For AAdvantage elite members, buying an economy ticket on one of American Airlines’ premium domestic flights has traditionally carried an enticing possibility: a complimentary upgrade to a lie-flat Flagship Business seat. Now the airline says that starting August 25, that opportunity will disappear on most flights. But not necessarily on every departure within the affected routes.
